Promotions

Promo codes you run with partners: create one, put it on your Shopify store, share its link, launch a Campaign Wizard campaign around it, drop it into a social post, and see the orders and revenue it brought in.

A promotion is a promo code your project runs — usually with a partner. "10% off everything with TORY10, for our collaboration with Tory Media" is one promotion. It is tracked whether or not you sell on Shopify: a lead-gen business still puts the code in its ads and posts and honours it wherever it sells.

Open Create › Promotions in the sidebar.

Create a promotion

Click New promotion and fill in:

FieldWhat it is
PartnerWho the promotion is with — a creator, publisher or brand.
CodeWhat shoppers type at checkout: 2–32 letters, digits, - or _. Codes are upper-cased, so tory10 and TORY10 are the same code.
DiscountA percentage (up to 100) or a fixed amount in the store currency.
Applies toAll products, or products picked from your synced Shopify catalog.
Starts / EndsOptional. Blank start means now; blank end runs until you end it.
Landing pageOptional storefront path the share link lands on, e.g. /collections/spring.

Tick Save as a draft to keep it off the store until you activate it.

The code, discount and products are fixed once saved — they are what the partner was promised. To offer something different, create a new promotion. The dates and landing page can be edited later.

On your Shopify store

With a Shopify store connected, saving an active promotion creates the discount code on the store, and the row shows Created on Shopify plus a share link (https://your-store/discount/TORY10) that applies the code when someone opens it. Use Copy link to hand it to the partner.

  • Stores connected before promotions shipped need to reconnect Shopify once to grant discount access (write_discounts). Until then the promotion is saved but not created on the store, and the page says so.
  • Without a store the promotion is tracked here only, and has no share link.

Orders and revenue

Each row shows the orders that used the code inside the promotion's dates and their revenue, in the store currency (and your reporting currency when it differs), plus the utm_campaign its links carry. Orders come from the Shopify order sync, which reaches back 60–90 days.

A breakdown by traffic source is not available yet.

Launch a campaign

Launch campaign opens the Campaign Wizard on the offer step with the promotion picked: the offer reads "10% off with code TORY10 on all products" and every ad links to the share link. You can also pick any active promotion from Use a promo code on the wizard's offer step. Pick No promo code to write your own offer instead.

Put the code in a post

In the Social Poster, Insert promo code under the caption adds a line like Use code TORY10 for 10% off. to the end of the caption. The character counters and checks re-run on the new caption. A caption that already names the code is left alone.

End and archive

  • End stops an active promotion and switches the code off on the store. Its orders stay counted. An ended promotion cannot restart.
  • Archive hides an ended or draft promotion from the list; the Archived filter still shows it. Nothing is ever deleted.
